Capitalists will have children go without food before they give up even the tiniest part of their wealth.

I’ve actually asked Republicans why they’re against feeding children.  They believe the kids are hungry because their parents aren’t working hard enough.  Republicans think people will work harder if their children are hungry.  In other words, they believe it’s okay to TORTURE CHILDREN to get their parents to do what they want.

re-reblogging because THAT’S SOME SOCIOPATHIC SHIT

More and more large urban school districts are switching to universal free lunch and eliminating even the mechanism for “lunch debt”.  They found it was cheaper and more effective to just use Federal Free Lunch money (through a specific grant) to give everyone free lunch rather than fund the bureaucratic steps of having parents register for free lunch.

Houston is the most recentNew York City adopted it last year.   It looks like this tweet might have been part of a campaign to convince Buffalo Public Schools to adopt the same program.  I can’t find a clear news article on it but it looks like they may have rolled out this program in Buffalo in the fall of 2017.

This is a really good issue to pester your city official and school district about.

Every Republican is a little hall-monitor-ass wuss. Jesus, this guy didn’t get shoved into nearly enough lockers as a kid.

Like honestly, this is the most earnest, cute, delightfully juvenile, fun-for-the-whole-family, non-partisan sign vandalism I’ve ever seen. Who could possibly be mad at this? This fucking roaster is fuming mad about “political violence”. It’s fucking hilarious.

Democrats everywhere finding pipe bombs in their mailboxes but googly eyes are political violence.

That last one hit hard

Stay away from children for the rest of your lives please

The people who hate this are probably the ones traumatizing their children

this is a show for 3 – 6 year olds what is WRONG with these monsters???

Fun fact, sesame street was created to fill the gap in education for children whose families could not afford to send them to preschool. Sesame street taught basic math and phonics as well as interpersonal skills so that children below the poverty line weren’t starting elementary school behind their more privileged classmates.

Here sesame street is trying to fill a gap where supportive adults should be. Where there should be a teacher or a family member or a counselor to help, for whatever reason, there isn’t, so Sesame Street is stepping in.

This breed of person has always hated Sesame Street. They hated it for showing black and white children playing together. They hated it for giving children of color the head start that rich white families were paying for. They hated it for Bert and Ernie for showing two MEN who LIVED TOGETHER, for the married black nurse who lived on sesame street when it was first released, and for them explaining death. I feel like there was a pregnancy at some point in its early days and they would have REALLY hated that.

These days they don’t (usually) say “I’m not letting my kid watch anything with black kids in it” but they sure throw a tantrum in the youtube comments when Sesame Street DARES to show an autistic girl playing with non-autistic children and being treated like shes anyone else. They lose their shit when Sesame Street has to explain incarceration to 5 year olds. And the muppet in south africa with HIV? Hoo boy.

They hate everything Sesame Street stands for and tries to provide. They always have. We just have to ignore them and keep supporting the show. Or tell them to shut the fuck up and keep supporting the show. Either way Sesame Street will outlive them.

”The amendment appears on a funding bill for the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education. If it remains in the final bill, the amendment would cut 15% of federal adoption funding to states and localities that penalize adoption agencies that refuse to place children in families that conflict with the agency’s ‘sincerely held religious beliefs or convictions.’

The amendment also bars the federal government from refusing to work with adoption agencies that discriminate.”

happy independence day let’s impeach the president

The only 4th of july post i care about

I can top it: yesterday, NPR made a series of tweets that Trump supporters called “propaganda” and “trash words” to insult Trump and push NPR’s agenda.

NPR was tweeting the Declaration of Independence.

And that, folks, describes about 75% of Trump’s voter base.

Some exammples of the Trump followers vs NPR thing

So they are admitting Trump is a dictator?

Some Trump supporters thought NPR tweeted ‘propaganda.’ It was the Declaration of Independence.

I want to be really clear about something: Planned Parenthood has done more to prevent abortion than the pro-life movement ever has.

Yup, preventing abortion by giving abortions. Makes sense!

No you fucking crusty nutsack giving people the education and the tools to not become pregnant in the first fucking place

One of my Christian friends made a Facebook post about how PP gave her tons of resources when she was trying to get pregnant and people were actually genuinely shocked that they provided such resources; they had fully bought into the idea that PP is just an “abortion factory”. The misinformation that’s been spread about PP is unreal.

gosh it’s almost like Planned Parenthood will help you plan for parenthood

Walgreens pharmacist denies pregnant woman miscarriage medication over his ethical beliefs

news-queue:

Nicole Arteaga was looking forward to the birth of her second child.

Already a mom to a 7-year-old son, Arteaga, 35, was nine weeks pregnant when her doctor delivered the worst news she could hear. Her unborn baby had stopped growing and had no fetal heartbeat.

She would have a miscarriage.

The doctor gave Arteaga three options: undergo a medical procedure to remove the lifeless fetus, wait for nature to take its course or take prescription medication to help her body let go of the deceased unborn baby.

After a day of thinking, she opted to take the medication. The drug, Misoprostol, causes a woman’s uterus to contract and allows the fetus to come out.

Arteaga, who lives in Phoenix, Arizona, received an email Wednesday evening, saying her Misoprostol was ready for pickup at her local Walgreens. But, when she went to pick it up Thursday night, the pharmacist on duty refused to give her the drug.

She stood, humiliated, as the pharmacist said he would not give her the prescription because of his own ethical beliefs. Her 7-year-old son and a group of other customers were all listening.

“He had it in his hand and refrained from giving it to me,“ Arteaga explained. ”…I was completely shocked. I couldn’t believe what was happening.”

Arteaga said she left Walgreens in tears.

“Having a miscarriage and having to deal with this is like a double dose of terribleness,” she said.

The pharmacist arranged for her to pick up the Misoprostol the next day at another Walgreens located 20-minutes away.

James W. Graham, senior manager of media relations for the pharmacy chain, confirmed what happened and issued a statement on behalf of Walgreens.

“After learning what happened, we reached out to the patient and apologized for how the situation was handled. To respect the sincerely held beliefs of our pharmacists while at the same time meeting the needs of our patients, our policy allows pharmacists to step away from filling a prescription for which they have a moral objection. At the same time, they are also required to refer the prescription to another pharmacist or manager on duty to meet the patient’s needs in a timely manner. We are looking into the matter to ensure that our patients’ needs are handled properly.”

But, Arteaga said the corporate statement wasn’t entirely true. According to her, Walgreens didn’t reach out to her. Arteaga said she reached out to them.

And, if the policy calls for another pharmacist or manager on duty to help in a situation like hers, Arteaga said there were other workers available who should have processed the transaction. According to her, there were two other employees in the pharmacy at the time – both of whom were assisting other customers. And, even if they refused too, she said there was surely a manager at the store to help.
