Oh my god…

friendly reminder that native americans actually suffer more police brutality & police murders than any other ethnicity

friendly reminder that we got our right to vote after black ppl did

friendly reminder that up until the 19-fucking-90’s our women would have their tubes forcibly tied by doctors after they gave birth, as a way to get rid of us

Friendly reminder that most of our sacred sites have been polluted by mining, illegal dumping, or radiation. AND EVEN MORE OF THEM HAVE BEEN STOLEN FROM US

friendly reminder that there is less than one percent of us left here.

Friendly reminder that even up here in Canada, there are mass amounts of First Nations women vanishing. Racism against natives is still alive and well. Residential schools were in operation until 1996.

This is not just an American problem.

If you can’t deal with an 8 year old and you’re a cop, please stop being a cop.

Abolish the police.

HERE THEY ARE.

Sex With Animals ✅

Marriage Equality ❎

I am willing to say that mostly they are just being obstructionist… but those first two… for them this was personal.

They do have a reason they voted against the bill change. It’s not a good reason, to be clear, but it is a justification not rooted in approval of bestiality.

Here’s the thing: bestiality is already illegal in Louisiana.

This new bill definitely strengthens the law, elaborates on what is illegal conduct (such as the procuring of animals for sexual purposes), and…and here’s the kicker…

Separates out the bestiality-is-illegal section of the law from the sodomy-is-illegal section. They used to be in the same paragraph, now the sodomy-is-illegal paragraph stands alone and a whole new paragraph (with subparagraphs) is there for bestiality.

To be clear, the sodomy-is-illegal parts themselves are null and void and have been since 2003 (Lawrence v. Texas, US Supreme Court). But they’re still on the books.

These ten Republicans are concerned that separating out the bestiality parts from the sodomy parts will make it easier to clean up and eliminate the sodomy provision altogether, and they don’t want to do that. (Again, that would only matter if Lawrence was invalidated somehow. But, well, they could believe that’s possible, too.)

So, yeah. They don’t want to change the law to expand on the illegality of bestiality specifically because that would make it feasible for a future change in law to eliminate a nonfunctional, homophobic section.

Protesting gun violence is massively important – but we need to recognize those most targeted and affected by it. Civilians with assault rifles/weapon stockpiles/bullet hoards, militarized police, normalization and support of heavily violent private security – these are all a huge part of what needs to be addressed re: guns in the US

And YES, Native Americans are disproportionately targeted by all violence (esp by non-Natives), but especially by gun violence.

From our children to our Elders, we are disproportionately injured/killed, despite making up such a small percent of the population of our lands.

This isn’t pulling focus from this movement. This is demanding that this movement (like all movements on this soil) must address anti-Native violence. It’s not just white kids and teens being attacked in these schools, so everybody needs to remember to also highlight anti-poc affects and intentions.

don’t forget – when you help the most vulnerable members of society, everyone benefits.

Sex workers fear violence as US cracks down on online ads: ‘Girls will die’

memoirsofaworkingprostitute:

Calida, 35, is a Chicago-based sex worker who has depended on
websites that host classified ads, such as Craigslist and Backpage.com,
to meet and screen clients. But the US government’s recent crackdown
on those platforms has abruptly eliminated many workers’ primary source
of income, forcing some to turn to the streets or to rely on abusive
pimps, greatly increasing the risk of violence.

“Girls are going back to the streets and they are going to die in the
streets, and nobody cares,”
said Calida, a mother of two, who said she
used to do street work and fears she will have to start again to make
ends meet. “Everybody is terrified.”

Congress recently passed legislation with bipartisan support that purports to combat online sex trafficking
by making websites criminally liable for users’ content. But some say
the Online Sex Trafficking Act (Fosta) and Stop Enabling Sex Trafficking
Act (Sesta) will have the opposite effect. Critics argue that the
legislation broadly censors
online speech, takes income away from people who engage in consensual
sex work, and helps traffickers get away with crimes by pushing the
industry underground.

Sex worker rights groups have long argued that initiatives targeting
child trafficking end up hurting the most marginalized workers by
broadly criminalizing the industry. That includes queer and transgender
people, the homeless and others who have been excluded from traditional
employment. Defenders of Backpage and Craigslist say those sites gave
workers control over their jobs and allowed people to detect and report
traffickers.

Kristen DiAngelo, executive director of the Sex Workers Outreach
Project of Sacramento, said her phone had been ringing off the hook
since the seizure of Backpage: “The fear is astronomical.”

One
woman told her she was forced to return to an abusive client due to the
lost income, she said. Others have resorted to taking on “managers” who
have leverage over the women and their income and could exploit them,
she added. “Very easily, you can lose control of your own life.”

“This bill is creating an actual market for pimps,” Calida said,
adding: “People don’t know if they are going to be able to pay rent …
how they are going to afford food.”

“The officer who fired the fatal shots at the 16-year-old, however, was cleared of all charges by a grand jury.”

W T F

There is absolutely no justice in this. First of all why is he being tried as an adult?

basically the reasoning behind this bs is that he was an accessory to murder because he was involved in the robbery, which “caused” the officer to have to fire his gun. laiketh was offered 25 years if he plead guilty, 65 if he took it to trial. (long sentences like this are basically used to scare people into pleading guilty.) he decided to fight (because, you know, he didn’t actually shoot anyone) but he lost. it’s so sad and stupid.
