It’s because the kids aren’t white

Obviously what’s happening to these kids is horrific but should we really be calling them concentrating camps though? What do Jewish people think about this?

Hello, Mexican here. They are fucking modern day concentration camps. Children, even infants, are being ripped from their homes, forced into overcrowded abandoned Walmart’s, with only 2 hours a day of outside time. This is no way for children to live. There is a mural on the wall of Trump with the quote, “Sometimes by losing the battle you find a way to win the war.” Do you know what people call shit like that? Propaganda. You can fuck all the way off. I cannot fucking believe you chose to fucking nitpick how this humanitarian problem is discussed because you’re uncomfortable with the horrors happening right before our eyes and would rather call it “problematic.” I can’t fucking stand gringos for bullshit like this.

Hi, Jew here! They are concentration camps and any Jew worth their history will tell you that. The Trump murals, the “we’re just going to take your baby for a bath”, the photos of confiscated rosary beads, the older children taking care of younger children they have no relation to because there are no parents around.

We see this shit and it sends chills up our spines because that was the kind of shit gentiles ignored because it wasn’t “that bad”. It wasn’t “that bad” when they were just confiscating our wedding rings and throwing them into a pile because we were “prisoners”, because it wasn’t “that bad” when they were separating children from their mothers to put them into a separate barracks, because it wasn’t “that bad” when little kids were having to flee through Kindertransport without their parents.

This also isn’t the first time this has been done in America. The Japanese were held in concentration camps here during WWII. And what’s happening now sounds strikingly similar to that as well. A concentration camp is literally just a place where you concentrate a certain group of people against their will.

Not to mention reports like these. The article’s a horrific read. (cw: abuse, rape, the works).

And yeah, don’t think I’ve forgotten you, Australia. If you haven’t seen Chauka, Please Tell Us the Time, it’s an incredible film, by detainee Behrouz Boochani from Manus Prison.

Pittsburgh police shot a black 13 year old running away from them to death on Juneteenth

Pittsburgh police shot a black 13 year old running away from them to death on Juneteenth.

If it is not clear from the text, they shot him in the back at a distance and was no threat to the officers

I saw a blurb on the news this morning about an individual shot by police and I just assumed the rest of the details. How fucking sad is that. I’m ashamed of my town right now.

I feel like the police violence is escalating here. They beat Jordan Miles (also a teenager at the time

And finally murdered this child. His name was Antwan.

if you are in the pittsburgh area there’s a march at the courthouse downtown tomorrow at 12 pm. here’s a link to the event

to summarize:

-police were following the car antwon was a passenger in because it matched a description (note: antwon was 17 yrs old, not 13 like many of the reports say. There was a 13 yr old on scene, however).

-police eventually stopped the car & ordered the driver out/onto the ground. antwon & another passenger bolted

-police fired 3 rounds into his back. Although 2 guns were found in the car later, Rose was unarmed when he was killed

-the driver was later released without being arrested

-the name of the officer who killed antwon rose has not been released. What we do know is that he has been put on administrative leave, and he was involved in other local departments 7 years prior. However, he was sworn in the same night as he killed Antwon.

-there were no dash/body cams, but a witness took a video. Be warned, it is graphic by nature.

here is the statement that the family of the victim released

The fact they feel it’s necessary to shoot when we run away instead of chasing us proves there’s a problem. And it’s not the in the training received before being sworn in it’s their character in general. They are literally giving badges to demons out here. Breaks my fucking heart.

He was 17

His 13 year old brother was in the car as well. Initial reports said he was 13. I’m sure you can understand how that could happen in the chaos that transpired right?

Jitneys were the precursor to Uber or Lyft. Imagine you and your brother get a Lyft home and the cops pull the driver over. Then shoot at you as you run away.

He was a poet, an avid skateboarder, and volunteer at local charities. Loved by family and friends.

There have been at least three protests. Currently one is shutting down a major highway. Pictures above are from earlier today

There will be another protest tomorrow. There are also several recordings and live feeds of the protests on FB

This is in my area. Looks like they’re now trying to do damage control by claiming he had an empty clip in his pocket and participated in a drive by earlier. Smh…

Update:

As you can see the media tried to spin a false narrative about Antwon having guns. And were exposed for lying by a news anchor today.

Ciora Thomas was arrested at the peaceful protest on 376 last night after police showed in riot gear. She was let go this morning but will have court costs.

You can donate to support her here:

Thanks in advance

More pictures from the protests in Pittsburgh.

Tonight’s protest on 6/28/18 lasted for 7 hours.

The people marched down the streets chanting, singing and dancing for 7 hours.

Thank you to everyone who came out and put everything on the line for Antwon Rose Jr. And for justice

Antwon Rose was a freedom fighter and he taught me how to fight

So we gon’ fight all day and night until they get it right

What side are you on my people, what side are you on?

What side are you on my people, what side are you on?

Pittsburgh is a horifically racist city and has been forever.

By the mid 80s there no more gangs in the city due to the diligent guidance of local civil rights activist leaders like Dr. Ralph Proctor, Jr. and Byrd R. Brown, president of the local NAACP and many others.

During Sophie Maslof’s tenure as mayor, Dr. Proctor approched to say that if resources weren’t made available to peacefully counter the inroads that gangs from other parts of the country were trying to make, there was going to be terrible bloodshead for years.

Maslof essentially did nothing positive and set in motion a chain of events that lead to terrible bloodshead during the 90s which completely devistated communites like Homewood (where Jordan Miles was beaten nearly to death for running from white men pursuing him who turned out to be plainclothes cops).

And white people here think the city is post racist and all modern and the Democratic leadership is unproblematic, yet violence towards black communities and inidviduals has increased as police forces become whiter and whiter and more heavily armed and funded and political leaders back the demolition and gentrification of black neighborhoods while cutting public transit.

If you get into the suburbs, white people are falling over themselves to be counted with facsists and nazis. I can’t tell you how many of those fucking facsist flags i see on pickup trucks and the blue line inbetween black plates for supporting police on countless cars.

Last night i saw a cop casually walking across the street with and assault rifle while another was shouting “GET BACK GET BACK PROTESTERS GET BACK” and then laughing about having just come from the 376 protests.

Gideon Mendel’s The Ward

Memories from the heart of the Aids crisis shows true love in a time of terrible tragedy.

These heartbreaking and incredibly moving images show the affection and love shown during the height of the Aids crisis. Photographer Gideon Mendel’s project The Ward began in 1993 when he spent a number of weeks on the Charles Bell wards in London’s Middlesex Hospital. All the patients on the ward were dying with the knowledge that there was no cure for the disease. During this time antiretroviral medications were not available and patients on the ward faced the prospect of an early death.

The 2011 Korean film “Silenced” is based on actual events that took place at Gwangju Inhwa School for the hearing-impaired, where deaf children were the victims of repeated physical and sexual assaults by faculty members over a period of five years in the early 2000s.

A newly appointed teacher at the school alerted human rights groups in 2005, and was subsequently fired from his job. This teacher was the first to come forward about the abuse he’d witnessed, as the school specifically sought out poorer teachers who would be completely dependent on the school for their financial security and therefore less likely to turn against the administration.

Nine children eventually came forward, but more victims were believed to have concealed additional crimes in fear of repercussions or because of trauma. Children who were orphans or who had disabled parents were targeted specifically, and children who tried to come forward were sent back to school and disciplined by the faculty.

During the trial, the perpetrators received support from the local community, especially from the police and churches in the community. Of the six perpetrators, four received prison sentences, while the other two were freed immediately because the statute of limitations for their crimes had expired. Among those jailed, two were released after less than a year in jail. Four of the six teachers were reinstated in the school.

The film sparked public outrage after its 2011 release, which eventually resulted in a reopening of investigations into the incidents. The school was shut down, and several of the teachers pleaded guilty to sexual molestation charges, including the former principal, who was sentenced to twelve years in prison. The demand for legislative reform eventually reached its way to the National Assembly of South Korea, where a bill (named after the film) was unanimously passed in October 2011 to abolish the statute of limitations for all sex crimes against minors and the disabled.

The film’s ending scene is a protest that occurred following the suicide of a thirteen-year-old victim after the trial in 2005. As the crowd of human rights advocates and deaf people face brutality from the riot police, the fired teacher who initially came forward (who, along with a human rights activist, helped the victims through the trial process) repeats the name of the victim who’d committed suicide, saying “he cannot hear or speak.”

Where can we watch this?

Art affects real life.

Remember Pulse this June

grace-and-ace:

grace-and-ace:

As we celebrate this year’s Pride month, do not forget to remember the tragic Pulse Night Club shooting. Remember that it was POC who were targeted. Remember this as we continue to fight. I’ll be either attending or hosting a local memorial this year, and I strongly recommend others do the same, if it’s possible.

Stay safe everyone.

2018 and this is still very relevant.

Happy Pride Month Eleanor Roosevelt was queer, the Little Mermaid is a gay love story, James Dean liked men, Emily Dickinson was a lesbian, Nikola Tesla was asexual, Freddie Mercury was bisexual & British Indian, and black trans women pioneered the gay rights movement.

Florence Nightingale was a lesbian, Leonardo da Vinci was gay, Michelangelo too, Jane Austen liked women, Hatshepsut was not cisgender, and Alexander the Great was a power bottom

Honestly just reblogging for that last one

Probably not historically backed but fuck yes

Eleanor Roosevelt wrote love letters to Lorena Hickok

Love letters Hans Christian Anderson wrote to Edvard Collin contain elements that appeared in The Little Mermaid, which he was writing at the same time

Several people who knew James Dean have talked about his relationships with men

Letters and poems allude to a romance between Emily Dickinson and at least two women

Nikola Tesla was adverse to touch. He said he fell in love with one women but never touched her and didn’t want to get married

Freddie Mercury is well known for his attraction to men but was also linked to several women, including Barbara Valentin whom he lived with shortly before he died. Friends have talked about being invited into their bed and walking in on them having sex (documentary Freddie Mercury: The Great Pretender)

Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera are two of the best-known activists who fought in the Stonewall riots

Florence Nightingale refused 4 marriage proposals and her letters and memoir suggest a love for women

Leonardo da Vinci never married or fathered children, was once brought up on sodomy charges, and a sketch in one of his notebooks is 2 penises walking toward a hole labeled with the nickname of his apprentice

Condivi said that Michelangelo often spoke exclusively of masculine love

Jane Austin never married and wrote about sharing a bed with women (Jane Austen At Home: A Biography by Lucy Worsley)

Hatshepsut took the male title Pharaoh (instead of Queen Regent) and is depicted in art from the time the same way a male Pharaoh would have been

“Alexander was only defeated once…and that was by Hephaestion’s thighs.” is a 2,000 year old quote

I want to hire you to follow me around and defend my honor with meticulous research

Langston Hughes: gay

SO MANY Jazz and Blues singers: lesbian or bisexual.

James Baldwin: gay

Lorraine Hainsberry: lesbian

Baynard Rustin (Civil Right Movement): gay

Billy Strayhorn  (the man behind Duke Ellington): super gaaaaayyyy

Whitney Houston: bisexual.

Thing is Hitler did some good for the german ppl, thus the immense support for him. The orange idiot however doesn’t do anything but playing Golf and approval ratings are decreasing. So, there’s that.

Literally shut the fuck up the only good thing Hitler ever did was put a bullet in his own brain

😂 Look, i hate him, too. But he created jobs. You think Hitler would have had the following he had being an angry men shouting at the clouds? He was a vile being and deserved more than the outcome he got.

Yeah, you’re right hitler created a lot of new jobs

I WONDER HOW HE DID THAT

THIS JUST IN

SLAVERY COUNTS AS JOB CREATION

uh yall do recall that he saved germany from the great depression and regardless of he fact that he was a mad man he did pull of a fairly decent socialist state before the whole “kill the jews” thing came up hell he didnt even want to do that

PUT YOUR FEET IN A WOODCHIPPER

image

not to be all like “read the thickest book i own six times over like me” but @msdancealot and @shotbythewolf have added some of the wrongest things ive ever read in my life soooooo

1-most of the make work programs of the first few years of nazi germany were created and budgeted for by the weimar government. after this like damn near every job created “by hitler” involved manufacturing weapons of war or extraction of resources to make weapons

2-its important to realize much of the world was leaving the great depression at the exact same time. a global economic recovery ‘saved’ germany, not hitler. theres alot of pretty solid evidence hitler destroyed germany and its economy actually, by running the domestic/consumer economy into the ground to make war

3-“fairly decent socialist state” the nazis were fascists. any sort of nazi social welfare programs didnt come from the same line of thinking as a socialist state. the nazi state was a ramshackle mess, rationing was commonplace, constant financial crisis

4-hell he didnt even want to kill the jews—-this is wrong. hitlers ideaology was so steeped in the idea of a “global jewish conspiracy” he wanted to kill every single jewish person on the planet. he wanted to do that. there wasnt a moment where he said “well shit guys looks like we have to kill the jews now” he wanted to do that for a very long time

intrigue-posthaste-please:

I’m watching that documentary “Before Stonewall” about gay history pre-1969, and uncovered something which I think is interesting.

The documentary includes a brief clip of a 1954 televised newscast about the rise of homosexuality. The host of the program interviewed psychologists, a police officer, and one “known homosexual”. The “known homosexual” is 22 years old. He identifies himself as Curtis White, which is a pseudonym; his name is actually Dale Olson.

So I tracked down the newscast. According to what I can find, Dale Olson may have been the first gay man to appear openly on television and defend his sexual orientation. He explains that there’s nothing wrong with him mentally and he’s never been arrested. When asked whether he’d take a cure if it existed, he says no. When asked whether his family knows he’s gay, he says that they didn’t up until tonight, but he guesses they’re going to find out, and he’ll probably be fired from his job as well. So of course the host is like …why are you doing this interview then? and Dale Olson, cool as cucumber pie, says “I think that this way I can be a little useful to someone besides myself.”

1954. 22 years old. Balls of pure titanium.

Despite the pseudonym, Dale’s boss did indeed recognize him from the TV program, and he was promptly fired the next day. He wrote into ONE magazine six months later to reassure readers that he had gotten a new job at a higher salary.

Curious about what became of him, I looked into his life a little further. It turns out that he ultimately became a very successful publicity agent. He promoted the Rocky movies and Superman. Not only that, but get this: Dale represented Rock Hudson, and he was the person who convinced him to disclose that he had AIDS! He wrote the statement Rock read. And as we know, Rock Hudson’s disclosure had a very significant effect on the national conversation about AIDS in the U.S.

It appears that no one has made the connection between Dale Olson the publicity agent instrumental in the AIDS debate and Dale Olson the 22-year-old first openly gay man on TV. So I thought I’d make it. For Pride month, an unsung gay hero.
