I’ve read/ am reading fic that are upwards to 150,000 – 200,000. You’re telling me that authors that write for fun are writing a full-length book for the fun of it? They have earned my respect 10 fold.
A friendly reminder.
Adding on to this by reminding everyone to leave feedback on fics. Seriously, y’all, fic writers put their heart, soul, blood, sweat, tears, and time into their writing. The least that you could do is let them know you enjoyed their works.
Does anyone else ever think about how traditional fiction is categorised by plot/setting (romance, crime, thriller, fantasy) but fanfiction is categorised by the emotions it’s meant to give you (hurt/comfort, fluff, angst, smut)?
Never thought of it this way, but that’s fascinatingly true.
I hate it when you’re reading smut and you can’t figure out what position they’re in.
sometimes it just ends up being something like

How I read
A book: Oh, only 180 pages left. I will finish this today.
A textbook: Another 8 pages?! Are you kidding me?! I can’t do this. It’s really too much to handle.
alternatively, a fanfic: the little gray slidy thing sure is getting close to the bottom of the screen
Happy St. Patrick’s Day!!!!! Pretty please Harry Potter or PJO?
Pulling pranks is for children, it’s undignified, it’s lowbrow and for commoners.
But Draco has a lot of fantastic ideas, and it’s a shame to let them go to waste.
He’s only about two months into his first year when he grabs Fred and George’s elbows and yanks them into a broom closet. “We are all way too young for this,” George says immediately.
“What?” Draco says, “I have a great idea for a prank, if you’re interested.”
They’re interested. It’s the beginnings of a beautiful friendship.
Years later, the twins don’t need Harry’s tournament winnings for their joke shop. They have a silent investor.
(It’s Draco.)
Black Panther rec list
The people asked and the people shall receive! Here is an extensive rec list of fics centering the black characters of Black Panther,
and free of incest, p*dophilia and antiblackness. (I tried to make sure that all the fics and authors listed aren’t offensive, but if i accidentally recced an offensive fic or a fic written by a terrible person, please let me know so that i can fix it).
The fics are sorted by main pairings, and the last category is for fics centering around familial relationships and character study. The list includes around 50 works, so I put most of it under a “read more” to not clutter your dash. Thank you to those who helped me make this list! I hope everyone enjoys it.

Imagine being a writer, and then after your book’s release and when the hype goes through the roof, you write fanfiction for it, then you tweet “there is a fanfic out there that is totally canon. Try and find it.” Then all your readers are scouring every fanfic website, trying to find which one is yours, meanwhile helping all these fanfic writers get readers.
I mean david gaider did this. david gaider wrote dragon age 2 fanfiction on the kink meme and we still don’t know for sure which one is his
