Moments after @rheabutcher banned me from cutting butternut squash bc it’s “too dangerous.”

This is the “you need to boil the water for instant noodles” couple. Who’s going to volunteer and teach them how to cook safely and and efficiently?

Me, walking up to a gay couple: so which one of you tries to heat up noodles without adding water and which one of you breaks out the toolbox to slice vegetables?

A sea turtle swimming up to a nap in a giant barrel sponge.

ABSOLUTELY NOT! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLY CUTE

Good to know that sea turtles are the oceans version of cats

Wow.  At first I was like, “Wait a minute, how they gonna nap underwater?  Don’t they need to BREATHE?”  So I looked it up and “A resting or sleeping turtle can remain underwater for 4-7 hours.”  Holy cow!

Beautiful #Ramadan tradition in the old city of #jerusalem. The callers who go from house to house in the early hours of the morning waking up each family by name for Qiyam and s7oor. They do so in a poetic form. Imagine being woken up daily in this beautiful way. This tradition has continued from generation to generation. Bless them #palestine

i reblog this every year, but this time i need to stress that this tradition, like many others in palestine, is now under threat. these callers are currently facing harassment, fines and detainment by israeli police who say the callers are no longer allowed to practice this tradition because “settlers living in the neighbourhood had complained about the noise”, even though these callers operate in predominantly palestinian muslim neighbourhoods.

Kicking off Black Music Month with an inspiring story of a young musician who didn’t let being born without hands stop him from mastering the piano. See for yourself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Darrius Simmons, who was born with four fingers and no bones below his knees, was first introduced to the piano at age 10 by way of his grandfather. Simmons was only 18-months-old when both of his legs were amputated. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Becoming a self-taught pianist and learning how to use his prosthetic legs to play the piano pedals, Simmons started to make videos to showcase his talent. This eventually led to the Ohio teen to be invited by internationally renowned pianist-composer, Yiruma, to play at Carnegie Hall. He was only 15 at the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now two years later, the 17-year-old Warren G. Harding High School junior has wowed the entire internet once more with his original composition, “Dreams are Forever.” Simmons shared the video on Facebook last month with a caption that read: "Still got some work to do but I thought it was time for me to share this piece that I made myself. It took a lot of hard work but I feel like it paid off by making this song. I hope you enjoy watching and listening.“ cc: @drippy_2x_29 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
