Movies like “Brother bear” “Lilo & Stitch” “Atlantis” “Treasure Planet” “Mulan” are the epitome of not only aesthetically pleasing 2d animated movies, but great plots and strong ass character arcs and shows that diversity is not forced if you walk out of your damn house and i hope we can someday do them justice and bring back the making of movies like those masterpieces and i think they will never be forgotten if we dont let them, so heads up and bring the next generation of 2d animated movies to the animation field now
my favorite thing about this is that each of them is walking in a different direction, it’s like these girls are off to conquer the entire goddamn world
They’re gonna meet in the middle
In the middle they will find the avatar, master of all elements and the force:
I think growing up on a steady diet of fanfiction made me hate traditional book genres. Like, I don’t care what the overall “theme” is. Gimme the tags. Is there character death? Sibling rivalry? Snarky best friend? That’ll do way more to get me into a book than slotting it into one of a dozen strictly defined boxes that tells me almost nothing.
Last time I was in a bookstore I was rifling through the paperbacks going “where the hell is the Content rating? is this ‘mature’ or are we in for actual funtimes here? And where are the Content Warnings? whatcha got here book? You gonna get weird on me?” So really, Ao3 has me spoiled.
This gave me a brilliant idea for book displays at the library. #angst #enemies to lovers #plot twist
You are a good librarian!
I only have flat shelves to work with but…. I did it.
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. YOU ARE A GOD AMONGST MORTALS.
I found a book in the library with content tags and suddenly I realised what I’d been missing all this time.
the way tagging and sorting fan fiction has developed is really interesting to me, because its based entirely on letting a potential reader know immediately what types of tropes and emotions they’re in for if they read
describing something as “drama” doesn’t actually tell me a whole lot about the story, because drama can mean a whole lot of things. but telling me that something is “hurt/comfort” immediately informs me the story is going to have some emotional/painful moments where a characters struggles, but there will ultimately be healing and support and likely a resolution. tagging with details like “found family” or “enemies to lovers” or “so-and-so is a horrible father” lets me know the kinds of scenarios I’m in for without revealing the plot and I can select a fic to read based on those details
it’s just fascinating that we’ve decided to write and spread stories without traditional publishing methods and have developed a way to market and describe our stories that is completely different than the way stories are traditionally published, marketed, and sorted
it’s ultimately a better system, because it gives you details without spoiling the actual story and sorts based on elements and EXPERIENCES of the story instead of broad categories. not all sci-fi is going to have the found family trope, for example, but I know I’d rather pick up the one that does
It’s “meat and three veg” vs
“For main, we have three long-meats, lightly spiced, resting on a bed of mash, coupled with green beans, honeyed carrot and a rich jus.”
Which would you prefer? Like, get me pumped about what I’m about to consume!!!
There’s a fine line between queerbaiting and respectfully acknowledging a same-sex ship, and Pacific Rim actor Charlie Day just trod that line like a pro.
At the Pacific Rim: Uprising premiere, Charlie Day explained how his character Newton Geiszler fared in the years between movies. “He’s been separated from Hermann Gottlieb, so he’s kind of not himself, he has no one keeping him real. He misses the man that he’s in love with.”
“It sounds like you ship it, like half the internet,” said the interviewer.
“People have been shipping it, but I think they’re totally right,” Day said. “It completely informs the character. I honestly was thinking about it that way when I was acting through those scenes, and it’s so much more interesting. So thank you to the fans for writing along with the writers.”
Nef goes on to explain the difference between her photoshoot with Velencoso, versus how transgender women are typically photographed in fashion editorials. “images of trans femmes being loved rarely exist outside of pornography,” Nef wore. “We tend to be hyper-sexualized and objectified within the cisgender gaze. Either that or we’re dehumanized as scum or (just as bad) untouchable goddesses.”
can’t believe i nearly forgot to post this, i’ve had a busy day! but here is your Konan-love for Wednesday, formerly known as Woman Crush Wednesday! ❤
headcanons, thoughts, feelings, etc, enjoy!
1. I wish we could have seen HOW she ruled Amegakure when she was
on her own. maybe she hired some assistants to train up as potential leaders
for after she was gone. In my headcanon, I imagine that in the brief time she
ruled Amegakure alone, she started looking into opening up effective and decent orphanages
for war orphans in Amegakure, started teaching them to defend themselves, gave
them an education so they didn’t have to steal etc, and to make sure none of
them have to go through what she did.
2. Book-wise, I picture her liking poetry best. personally i’m
not much of a poetry fan so i can’t really think of any poets to associate her with! XD but i can picture Konan reading a lot of
political treatise about how to be a leader, how to rule, and for tips on overthrowing someone while she’s plotting against Obito/Madara.
3. In modern aus…the kind of make-up I imagine her having would be
the Anastasia Beverly Hills Moonchild Glow Kit and the Huda Beauty Winter
Solstice Highlighter Palette. Konan looks so glowy and flawless (I know she’s
an anime character so ofc she looks flawless lol, but her skin always looks
that bit more glowy than the other girls). both glow palettes are so pretty, seriously go look
these highlighters up lol. For her beautiful eyeshadow colour, I bet she uses Too
Faced’s Life’s a Festival Eye Shadow Palette. For more affordable options, she
might use Sleek Makeup Palettes, especially the Nordic Skies Limited Edition palette
or even the All The Fun of The Fair – Whimsical Wonderland collection. Oh dear
I could go on all day about make-up ahahaha, anyone want a Konan-inspired
makeup tutorial?! XD
4. In the manga/anime, you can see she has a lip piercing and that super cool belly button piercing, but I don’t think she
stopped there. I bet she has her nipples pierced and a christina piercing too
XD but no one knows, only she does XD
if anyone has any further ideas, any thoughts, or even alternative headcanons etc, then please let me know in the comments! i can talk Konan all day! 😀
The entire akatsuki has piercings in their nipples
